Upgrading municipal lagoons in temperate and cold climates: Total nitrogen removal and phosphorus assimilation at ultra‐low temperatures

چکیده
In this study, a municipal lagoon with high wintertime effluent total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) concentrations was upgraded pilot-scale nitrifying-nitrifying-denitrifying (NIT-NIT-DENIT) moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) treatment train to characterize its over operation, investigate the feasibility of upgrading lagoons achieve substantial biological removal across ultra-low temperatures (0.6–3.0) and nitrification inhibition pathways in facultative systems at temperatures. Throughout it observed that system substantially reduced (TN) phosphorus (TP) by an average 69.8 ± 24.5% 74.7 20.1%, respectively. Furthermore, sulfide toxicity may play important role nitrifying organisms lagoons. Finally, MBBR technology has emerged as suitable sustainable upgrade for existing waste stabilization pond facilities operating temperate, northern cold climate countries.

Electric dipoles at ultralow temperatures
Any object with a net positive charge on one end and a net negative charge on the other end possesses an electric dipole moment. In ordinary classical electromagnetism this dipole moment is a vector quantity that can point in any direction, and is subject to electrical forces that are fairly straightforward to formulate mathematically. However, for a quantum mechanical object like an atom or mo...
متن کاملRemoval Efficiency of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Heavy Metal by Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration System from Municipal Wastewater (Yazd-ICEAS)
Introduction: Sequential batch reactor (SBR) is one of the modified biological treatment systems which is able to remove BOD5, Nitrogen, and phosphorus from wastewater. The object of this study is to determine the removal efficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus, and heavy metals from municipal wastewater by the advanced SBR system. Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectio...

متن کاملNitrogen removal from wastewater by an aerated subsurface-flow constructed wetland in cold climates.
The objective of this study was to assess the role of cyclic aeration, vegetation, and temperature on nitrogen removal by subsurface-flow engineered wetlands. Aeration was shown to enhance total nitrogen and ammonia removal and to enhance removal of carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, and phosphorus. Effluent ammonia and total nitrogen concentrations were significant...
متن کاملDetermination of fall dormancy score of Iranian alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) ecotypes in cold and temperate climates
To evaluate fall dormancy of twenty alfalfa local ecotypes and exotic cultivars, this study was conducted in two separate experiments (conventional or dense planting and spaced planting) using randomized complete block design with three replications in three growing seasons 2014, 2015 and 2016 in two locations (Karaj and Khoy), Iran. First growing season was considered as estabilishment season....
